October 2019

Mahathi was curious about the Scenctsibles bags but no trash receptacles in the stalls. Realizing that the bigger problem at hand were the empty coin dispensers and lack of access to free menstrual hygiene products even with the presence of a well-marketed condom delivery. 

February 2020

In order to provide sufficient data to University administration in the form of a proposal, the first climate survey of this project was conducted.* At this point, lack of funding was a big barrier. 

April 2020

UGA is awarded the Grand Prize, $4,500 in menstrual products to fund the initiative. 

July 2020

Project Red as a menstrual equity initiative on campus is created. 

A second climate survey for this project was conducted. **

December 2020

Project Red was granted $4,000 through the Office of Sustainability's Annual Sustainability Grant, totalling $13,000 in funding we had garnered up to this point. 

Locations Tate & Boyd were selected and purchase of dispensers was made. 

April 2021

One dispenser was placed in a all-gender restroom on the 1st floor of Aderhold Hall. 

November 2019

After speaking to universities in the Southeast region who have implemented a menstrual product program, Mahathi connected with Aunt Flow. In order to provide sufficient data to University administration in the form of a proposal, a climate survey was conducted.  

March 2020

A detailed proposal was created highlighting UGA community feedback and the relavence of menstrual equity on campus. Aunt Flow announced a scholarship program, leading Mahathi to apply with the assistance of two SGA senators. 

May 2020

Mahathi was connected with Jaaie, Maeve, Ashley, and Suvitha, executive members of Period Project at UGA. 

September 2020

Conversations with administration within the Facilities Management Division began. Project Red began applying for a lieu of grants to gather as much funding as possible.  

February 2021

Two dispensers were placed on campus: one at Tate Student Center and another at Boyd Graduate Studies.
